Sectoral Development
Energising, Reinforcing Alliances & Building Solidarity
The delivery of ArtsEkta’s programme of work is based upon the principles of leadership, colloboration and partnership working. We work with our partners across the community, voluntary, arts, tourism and corporate sectors to assist with the development of sustainable community, cultural and arts infrastructures throughout Northern Ireland.
We are committed to development through organisational learning, sharing knowledge and skills, creating collective voices, disseminating best practice and establishing new thinking.
We believe that working together towards a common goal and using common approaches to achieve that goal will lead to real change, on the ground, where and when it is most needed.
Key initiatives
- Initiator and member of the ‘Stronger Together’ working group in partnership with STEP, Foyle Multi-Cultural Forum, Chinese Welfare Association, Centre for Global Education, Ballymena Inter-Ethnic Forum and SEEDs. The aim of this group is to encourage connectivity and bring about collective leadership for those working in the field of racial equality.
- Initiator and deliverer of the ‘Cultural Weave’ conferences in partnership with Community Arts Forum (now Community Arts Partnership), Down Community Arts and Lisburn Island Arts Centre. The aim of the conferences are to explore how organisations can help address racism through the arts.
- Conceptualisation of the ‘Minority Ethnic Arts Forum ’, now hosted by Community Arts Partnership (CAP). ArtsEkta took the lead on establishing this initiative in 2007 which was then developed in partnership with Community Arts Forum & New Belfast Community Arts Initiative (recently merged to form CAP), Beyond Skin and Centre for Global Education. Its mission is to enhance creative opportunities for artists from minority ethnic communities.
