Making a Difference

ArtsEkta provides a professional and innovative outreach service to a network of schools and community groups across Northern Ireland. The outreach programme consists of cultural attributes such as dance, drama, music and visual arts and incorporates a range of cultural backgrounds.

The programmes run from one to six weeks and have a strong participatory element usually concluding in a performance or a different artistic outcome. We can custom design sessions for schools and community organisations to meet their specific needs.

After delivery, we aim to provide participants with resource packs full of activities to sustain their learning. Additionally if required we provide follow up workshops to deepen understanding and respect.

Why is our work important?

  • Enhances cultural awareness and appreciation which, in turn, will assist in tackling racism faced by people from minority ethnic communities.
  • Participants will engage in dynamic arts-based programmes, which creates positive change.
  • Assists in developing self-confidence, creative skills development, increased cultural understanding and healthy inter-community relationships.
  • Schools will be able to meet curriculum requirements under the citizenship and personal development & mutual understanding programmes.

Programme Support

At ArtsEkta it is our wish to design a programme that meets your aims and objectives. If you feel you would just like a one off workshop, a short two week programme or a full eight week programme we will endeavour to meet your requirements and budget.

Once the programme is complete there are a range of services that we provide in order to help you to sustain and build the participant’s learning and cultural understanding, whether this be through a resource pack or follow up workshops. Creating a legacy from the engagement is a very important part of ArtsEkta's work.

In addition, participants in the programme will often be given a unique opportunity to showcase their work through ArtsEkta’s annual festivals including Belfast Mela,Diwali & Samhain and Festival of Colours, which are Northern Ireland’s leading multi-cultural festivals.
