Examples of the type of placements we can offer include project co-ordination, events management, marketing/PR assistance, administrative support, information management and graphic design.
Sanskriti Oral History Volunteers
We need keen volunteers to help us collect important memories of both local and South Asian communities as part of our Sanskriti heritage project. Artsekta will develop your skills in oral history recording and interviewing by arranging valuable training days with the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum and Healing Through Remembering. These two important organizations will help you understand the practice of executing oral history interviews, the legal and ethical requirements and the use of equipment. Importantly you will be part of a team of volunteers who will develop a knowledge of local history. Help will be available from the Project Manager along the way to ensure that you are developing your skills and achieving your goals.
The Sanskriti project will last for a total of three years, in the first instance we would like volunteers for a year to make use of the expert training we will be providing. Artsekta aims to create a range of voluntary posts to suit the needs of the diverse project. Throughout the project a number of events will be happening, this includes public lectures, an exhibition, and the development of a learning resource. This will create a number of learning and experience opportunities for those studying and working in relevant fields. Importantly the oral history archive will be donated to National Museums Northern Ireland. This will make the project publically accessible and ensure its safekeeping for future generations.
